Counselling & Therapy in Skipton

About Angus Watson MBACP

Hi, I’m Angus. I provide professional Counselling & Therapy in Skipton as a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and registered member of the BACP (MBACP, membership number
408896). My counselling in Skipton is offered both face-to-face and online, designed to put you at the heart of every session. Having worked in the charitable sector for over 8 years, with a particular focus on community and disability services it has formed my awareness of the complexities, challenges, and unpredictability that makes us human.

Every experience of sadness, anxiety, or distress I encounter reveals its own logic when examined with care and understanding. I appreciate everyone's individuality and uniqueness, however, being seen, heard, and understood can be very important in dealing with difficult life issues.

When you share whatever is weighing on your mind, whether it's anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, together, in a compassionate and safe therapeutic space, we can begin the journey towards coping and finding a way forward.

Starting counselling can be challenging and feelings of anxiety from taking the first step are common. So, let's meet together and speak about how I can support you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer a free initial call?

Yes. I understand that choosing a counsellor is a big decision. I offer a free 20 minute introductory call so we can have a brief chat, discuss your needs and see if we are a good fit before you commit to a full session.

How much are sessions?

Sessions are £50 each. This fee is the same whether you choose to come in person or speak with me online.

How frequent are sessions?

I usually recommend we meet once a week. Meeting regularly helps us build a trusting relationship and gives you a steady, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number. As a person-centred counsellor, I work at your pace. Some people find 6 to 12 sessions sufficient to work through a specific issue, while others prefer open-ended support for longer term personal growth. We can review this regularly together.

Is what we discuss confidential?

Absolutely. I provide a safe and private environment where you can speak freely. As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to a strict ethical framework. What we talk about stays between us, with very specific legal exceptions regarding harm to yourself or others which are covered in the counselling agreement.

What are your qualifications?
Formal Professional Training:
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 3 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 2 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling
Professional Body & Insurance:
  • Registered Individual Member of The BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy)
  • I hold both Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance
